Bio Pioneers: The Biotech Scout

Berlin, 5 December 2022 – Reportage, video, podcast: the “Bio Pioneers” series, developed by BIOCOM on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), brings together various media formats. In the latest profile, molecular biologist Max Mundt explains why he firmly believes in a future driven by bio-based production processes.

Max Mundt, molecular biologist and technology scout, is responsible for business development at the Munich-based biotech start-up Insempra. Insempra leverages cutting-edge technologies to create sustainable products using bacteria and yeast as biofactories. These include yeast oils for skincare creams and organic textile fibres.

Mundt is one of the bio pioneers featured in this portrait series. For the Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s bioeconomy website, biooekonomie.de, BIOCOM has developed a versatile format: “The Bio Pioneers.” Traditional and modern storytelling methods are combined here, with the reportage complemented by a video and a podcast, all produced at BIOCOM AG’s facilities.

Since 2020, the series has showcased trailblazers in bio-based and sustainable business practices.
