500 experts discuss bioeconomy
With the “Mid-Term Conference on Bioeconomy” organised by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research on 5 June at ewerk in Berlin, the government took stock of the “National Research Strategy Bioeconomy 2030” launched at the end of 2010. Federal Research Minister Johanna Wanka took the opportunity to present the action plan “Wegweiser Bioökonomie”, which sets out the future funding guidelines for the next three years. The exhibition “Bioeconomy in Everyday Life” showed more than 40 products that are already biobased today.
The main topic of the conference was the current challenges and future perspectives of a bio-based economy. What is the economic perspective of the bioeconomy for companies from different sectors? What does the bioeconomy offer in terms of climate and environmental protection? What can technological innovations achieve? In short, how can economic growth and sustainability be combined? And how is Germany positioned – also in an international comparison?
