IACGB chairs Christine Lang and Joachim von Braun with the BIOCOM team.

Berlin, 24.11.2020 – On Friday, the third Global Bioeconomy Summit, which took place virtually this year, came to an end. BIOCOM organised the five-day summit.

After three days of workshops, German Federal Research Minister Anja Karliczek opened the plenary session on Thursday morning. She welcomed the participants together with the chairs of the International Advisory Council on Global Bioeconomy (IACGB) Christine Lang and Joachim von Braun. The international panel of experts is the host of GBS 2020 and published the summit communiqué on day 1 of the plenary program.

More than 3,000 participants registered for the event. With five plenary sessions and 12 interactive workshops, the conference covered a broad spectrum of discussions within the bioeconomy. More than 100 high-profile speakers discussed the role of the bioeconomy in solving global crises. For the first time, the IACGB welcomed official partners from each continental region to further strengthen the international character of the global bioeconomy summit.

Two interactive exhibitions, a networking area, a social media wall and a media corner with many offers complemented the virtual programme.
